SYD 6/New group name

We found a TL for syd 6 and are working on that now.

We are forming under a new name, Arc Subs. New irc is #ArcSubs@rizon.net.

GSO's edit: I forgot I gave Sieg access to the blog \o/ Anyways, to clarify, I'm still dead and never returning. What he meant is that the REST of the core staff members, encoder and the typesetters are forming a new group so I highly recommend the group. I've briefly talked with the TL and he seems more than capable for translating SYD, even better than my level (which was essentially garbage, so it's not hard). The old staffs are all there, so for all I know, it'll be better than ever, albeit slower.

PS: And I guess the old editor didn't tag along, but they have a new one.

You're wondering why we're so slow recently.

I'll keep this brief then give a tl;dr:

TL is quitting. That means our group is not going to sub anything anymore.

Feel free to drop by our IRC to tell me how much of a fag I am and convince me otherwise. I'll stick around for a day to say good byes.

TL;DR (I'm not fucking kidding about TL part)

There are plenty of reasons why I decided this after musing over it a long while.

1) Shit subs are shit. I'd like to think you're trolls but even Nyaa seems to think so, and I want to give him at least some credibility. So I'm guessing flamers will be happy that there's less junk on the internet. So as some trolls have suggested, I'm going to go do some community work and make a difference while doing legal stuffs.

2) Waste of my time, the staffs' time and your time. The reception of our group has been lukewarm at best. I really don't like subbing Shukufuku, it's just a bad match for my taste, and it's licensed now. Doki does a better job (strictly statistical, as I've never watched their release to vouch for it) with the release and I'm sure it's worth waiting a few more days for their quality. No, I can't recommend Commie. I'm not saying they're bad. It's just that if we stop subbing Shukufuku, they'll have no TL to rip from. Can't recommend something that's not there.

So alternatively, I considered dropping Shukufuku and subbing SYD only, but it's a waste of the group's time. I love the series but with ~400 downloads for ~24 hours of work (collective of all group members)--my defection will affect very little people. We put a lot of time and effort in SYD especially, but no one cares right?

3) I always said this is going to be a hobby. So sorry to piss on everyone's bonfire, but I'm bored of that hobby now. For the reason listed in 2), there's no fruition to this that's enticing me to sub anymore. University's coming back soon, so I better pick up a useful hobby that'll help me get employed instead.

4) Just 'cause I can. Why do people say "you can't quit fansubbing"? I never understood where this sense of obligation comes from. And from this odd sense of obligation, fans misinterpret that they're entitled to fansubs. Sorry, you're not. You're supposed to shut the fuck up and take whatever subs we give you whether it's shit or godly. You should give constructive criticism when you can. You should say thank you, and be grateful if not. Else, you should keep quiet. Fansubbers are putting hours of selfless work to do you a favor, and there you are, asking them to quit. This is why I say "common sense is fucking dead" in the fansub scene. Why not take the time to help them improve so they can continue subbing for you?

I wonder if the leechers' attitude would change if all fansubbers decided to take hiatus until they gain some common sense. We should give this serious thought -- it might work.

5) I hate anime now. Watching anime was fun until I started subbing it.

6) Is fansubbing dying? Legal alternatives to fansubbing is starting to take off. Also, I heard a rumor that gg, ie. ElitistFags, aren't going to distribute .ts for any series gg is doing. (Rumor likely based on the fact they stopped releasing HOTD .ts as gg asked them not to.) That means we're supposed to die anyways after this season since they're doing all the good shows I would have liked to sub in the upcoming season. I should make clear, I'm not criticizing gg/ElitistFags about this, nor do I know even know if it's true. I'm just saying it the way it is: without a decent alternative to their .ts, we can't sub. Even if there was, we probably wouldn't bother. Read 2).

As for the staffs, thank you for sticking with me until now. I'm sure you'll be able to find a great new group to work with. The TL was the worst part of this group. If I ever decide to sub again, it'll be under a new alias, new group etc. I'll try my best to hide that I'm back so people who said "you can't quit fansubbing" can't say 'I TOLD U SO!!!!!one".

Darker than Black 3rd season?

You can look at this image for the whole thing but I'm just gonna crop it and show you the important bit right here.

If I remember correctly, the director said there will be no third season when asked long time ago, but then again, they always say that when asked._.

Not worth the effort TLing all of this but the important to know is the director is deciding on whether or not to do a third season. (And usually... When they say "we won't do a sequel", they mean "we might do it but we're not sure yet." And when they say "we might" they mean "we're planning to". ._. Amirite?)
